The Brit Awards 2010

Tuesday sees the return of the fabuolus Brit Awards, which this year celebrates its 30th birthday. Broadcast live on ITV1 at 8pm, this year's show is hosted by Bolton favourite (and GIGSANDTOURS' favourite) Peter Kay and promises to be one of the best shows yet with a dazzling line up of stars nominated for the various awards. The Brit Awards chairman Ged Doherty  also commented;

 “For the 30th BRITs show we’re planning a landmark event that truly celebrates this occasion...

Personally, I am very excited to see a fellow Boltonion up on the big Brits stage - wonder if Geraldine will give us a song?!

Also announced to perform are Jay-Z, Lily Allen and Cheryl Cole with Lily being nominated in the best British Female Solo Artist category amid suggestions that she is quitting the music industry for a life of baking cakes in the country!

The British Female Solo Artist category has sparked some serious debate on our Facebook page over the past few weeks.  Nominees include Bat For Lashes, Pixie Lott, Florence And The Machine, Lily Allen and Leona Lewis, in the biggest Girl Power battle since Peggy and Pat fought over Frank Butcher.

It seems that the night is also as much about the outfits as it is about the music, especially if last year's show is anything to go by! With massive fashionista egos parading the red carpet on the night, there will no doubt be some outrageous outfits on show. Lady Gaga's outfits are, well, gaga, and Florence Welch has some pretty hot fans in the form of Grazia and Topshop who created bespoke stage costumes for some of her live dates last year.

It will be a party for the eyes and the ears that's for sure...
