Gigs and Tours speak to Crystal Fighters

Gigs and tours pinned Crystal Fighters down for an interview in the run up to their 3 headline shows this month - O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on 14th; Manchester University on 15th; and Stereo, Glasgow on 16th...

What are you up to at this moment?
Thinking about how bright the sun is, while recuperating from an epic weekend of shows.

You’re playing Bestival this weekend what can the audience expect?
They can expect fire, emotional turmoil, knee wobbling bass, and love. Bestival is a particularly special festival to us, so we are counting down the days.

You’ve played a lot of great festivals year, which was the best so far?
This question is always difficult to answer because each show we play is unique and exciting to us in its own way. A few standouts are Lowlands in The Netherlands, Opener Festival in Polland, Dia de la Musica in Spain, and Glastonbury, but we have played so many amazing festivals over the last few months, it's unfair to only choose one.

What is your favourite song to perform live?
I really love playing In The Summer at the moment. There is something about the tempo that throws me into orbit.

Which song do you wish you had written?
Seven, by Prince. Everything about that song makes me happy and sad at the same time.

What was the first gig you ever went to?
I saw Dr. John when I was one year old, on a small island off of  Massachusetts. Unfortunately, I cannot remember any of it.

Plans for the rest of the year?
We have a handful of gigs left, including our headline show at Shepherds Bush Empire in London on the 14th of September, and then we are going to focus all of our energy towards the creation of our
second album. We have not had a chance to really put our heads down yet, so we are very excited to have the chance to do so soon.
