T in the Park arrived last weekend with its usual guster, and set Scotland alight once again. With Glastonbury cancelled it was up to T to pull something out of the bag to kick off the festival season, and boy did they!
Friday night headliners Snow Patrol failed to disappoint, playing crowd pleasing hits such as Chasing Cars and Take Back The City. Lead singer Gary Lightbody told the ever growing crowd “This is our eighth time at T in the Park and we keep coming back because it’s the best festival in the world!”.
Fresh from their monumental Heaton Park gigs, reunited Manchester legends The Stone Roses were the band every man, woman and child wanted to see on Saturday night. From the second the low rumble of bass of ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ swept through the crowd, it was clear the Roses were going to put on an unforgettable show. ‘Mersey Paradise’, ‘(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister’ and the anthemic ‘Sally Cinnamon’ followed, along with tears from the adoring crowd. Red flares lit up the dark Scottish sky as tens of thousands chanted ‘Fools Gold’ back to their idols, drowning them out. As with the Heaton Park shows, the foursome ended with ‘I Am The Resurrection’, a perfect finale to a spectacular show. “Nae bother” Ian said in a heavy Scottish accent as he saluted goodbye to his doting fans.
